"Forever my favorite baseball player" - Brandon Crawford's ex-gymnast wife pens heartfelt tribute on Giants legend's retirement after 14 years in MLB
Brandon Crawford has decided to put his childhood dream to rest by announcing his retirement after 14 years of dedication to the MLB. Hailing from California, Crawford has always been a San Francisco Giants fan, and his childhood picture at Candlestick Park from the 1992 Giants game is the biggest evidence of that.
Later in his career, Brandon Crawford was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the fourth round back in 2008, and he dedicated the next 13 years of his career to the same team. Now that he's decided to draw the curtains, his wife Jalynne Crawford made an Instagram Post, where she uploaded a video montage of Crawford's career of 14 seasons.
"It was the most beautiful ride watching you live out your childhood dreams. I loved having a front row seat to every moment and memory with you! Looking forward to this next chapter with our family!" Jalynne wrote in the caption.
"Thank you to the @sfgiants and @cardinals for everything! Thank you baseball for blessing our family with all the memories we will cherish in our hearts! You @therealbcraw35 will forever be my favorite baseball player of all time! I love YOU @therealbcraw35"
However, the 2021 season can be dubbed his best, when he had a career-high .298 batting average, and slashed 24 home runs with 90 RBIs and 11 stolen bases.
Brandon Crawford sends out a heartfelt message to announce his retirement
The longtime San Francisco Giants shortstop took to his social media this Wednesday night to announce that he'll be renouncing his MLB career. The three-time All-Star has also played for the St. Louis Cardinals in the last year of his career.
Furthermore, Brandon Crawford also helped the Giants win titles in 2012 against the Detroit Tigers and in 2014 against the Kansas City Royals. Then, he had his first out of three All-Star selections in 2015. Crawford also won four Golden Glove awards throughout his career and grabbed a Silver Slugger award in 2015.
"Baseball has given me, Jalynne, and the kids more than we ever thought possible, and for that we are so thankful," Crawford wrote. "I wouldn’t have been able to have the career I did without their love and support every step along the way."
"I also want to thank my parents, siblings, in-laws, coaches, teammates, fans, and everyone else who guided, helped, and rooted for me throughout my career. Now it’s time for the next chapter, and I can’t wait for the new opportunities and different experiences that it will create."
Brandon Crawford's life is one of the rarest examples where he got to live his childhood dream, as he was the biggest fan of the San Francisco Giants and then he got to play for them for straight 13 seasons.
