"Freddie Freeman is so not spectacular in the way he plays but..." - MLB sportscaster coins perfect nickname for Dodgers star with Miguel Cabrera nod

MLB sportscaster Chris Rose and former Minnesota Twins slugger Trevor Plouffe recently talked about Freddie Freeman's consistency throughout his career. Rose also compared the 34-year-old's hitting style to legendary Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera.

On Monday's episode of Baseball Today, Rose focussed on how Freeman is the epitome of consistency. (11:32)

"When a guy is as consistent as Freddie Freeman, he feels like 'Captain Consistency'. He's so 'not spectacular' in the way he plays, but he's frickin' amazing. He's in line for his worst offensive season since 2015, so in almost a decade. He's hitting .288 with .880 OPS."

Furthermore, Rose emphasized how Freeman is similar to Miguel Cabrera. (12:07)

"I don't think people appreciate how damn good he is because he makes it look so effortless. I can't remember a guy other than Miguel Cabrera driving the ball to the alleys, [with what] seems like such ease."

In a 20-year career in the major leagues, Cabrera played for the Florida Marlins (now Miami Marlins) and the Detroit Tigers. He has a career batting average of .306, with 511 total home runs and 1,881 RBIs.

In a hugely decorated career, the Venezuelan was a 12-time All-Star, won a World Series, seven Silver Slugger awards and was named the AL MVP twice, alongside numerous other honors.

Freddie Freeman homers twice as Dodgers win series in Arizona

The Los Angeles Dodgers won 11-6 at Chase Field on Monday night, clinching the four-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Jack Flaherty registered his latest quality start, as he struck out seven and gave up only one earned run in 5.2 innings of work.

Freddie Freeman had a monster night at the plate, smashing a pair of two-run homers in the third and eighth innings. For the 2024 season, the 34-year-old is batting at .288, with 21 home runs and 83 RBIs.

After the series in Arizona, the Dodgers split a two-game series against the Los Angeles Angels. Freeman and Co. head back to Dodger Stadium next, to take on the Cleveland Guardians as the hosts aim to swiftly bounce back from a chastening defeat to the Angels.
