Garrett Crochet Trade Rumors: Cubs and Reds emerge as potential suitors for White Sox ace - Reports
The Garrett Crochet trade rumors are heating up. The Chicago White Sox ace was one of the hottest commodities at the trade deadline in 2024, but he ended up staying put potentially because of some requests he was making of the team that might trade for him. Now, he's back on the market as one of the top available arms. Even before the Winter Meetings, his suitors are emerging.
Per MLB insider Jon Morosi, the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds are among the "viable" clubs to add Crochet. That means that, of all the teams, it looks more and more likely that Crochet is headed to the NL Central.
Morosi pointed out that the Cubs and White Sox, two crosstown rivals, have dealt with each other before. They've made four trades since 2017, beginning with a Jose Quintana swap.
The Reds have already swung a blockbuster for a pitcher, adding Kansas City Royals starter Brady Singer. Per these new reports, they're not done yet and could be looking to form a truly dominant starting rotation.
The Cubs had a disappointing season and have even considered trading away some players like Cody Bellinger. They are also potentially looking at adding Crochet to the rotation with Shota Imanaga and Justin Steele.
Several White Sox stars in trade talks along with Garrett Crochet
After a record-setting 121-loss season, everyone seems to be available from the Chicago White Sox. Garrett Crochet is the hottest commodity, but he's far from the only one after the White Sox had virtually nothing going right for them last season.
Outfielders Luis Robert Jr. and Andrew Benintendi, the former of whom is still young and under team control and has a past of hitting well (38 home runs in 2023), are drawing interest according to MLB.com.
Andrew Vaughn has also been named in trade rumors, and it likely doesn't end there. With how bad Chicago was last season, it seems like no one is untouchable and that there will be a lot of trades to stock their farm system this offseason or by the next deadline.
