Garrett Crochet Trade Rumors: White Sox ace attracting interest from multiple teams for possible winter move, per MLB insider
Chicago White Sox ace Garrett Crochet is attracting interest for a possible winter move, reported MLB insider Bob Nightengale. The White Sox are out of the playoff race after a pretty drastic season this year with a 30-94 regular season record.
Crochet was one of the most talked about stars during the trade deadline. He was a top target for teams like the New York Yankees and LA Dodgers. However, none of those parties could solidify a deal for the ace and he remained in Chicago.
According to Nightengale:
"Chicago White Sox ace Garrett Crochet is attracting plenty of interest from teams who are scouting him for a potential trade this winter. Crochet put on a show Friday, striking out nine batters in four innings, throwing 43 of his 55 pitches for strikes. The White Sox still intend to trade Crochet in the offseason."
Crochet was pretty successful and dominant for most of this season. But his form dropped after the All-Star break. Overall, the LHP in this regular season has a 6-9 record, with an ERA of 3.61, a WHIP of 1.07 and 176 strikeouts.
Grady Sizemore reflects on how Garrett Crochet is affected by limited innings
Grady Sizemore is the new interim manager of the White Sox. He opened up on how limiting his innings affected Garrett Crochet as his performance has taken a huge hit during the second half of this season.
"When you know that you're gonna be on a limit, whether it's innings or pitches, it messes with your mind.” Sizemore told reporters during an interview.
Crochet has been a top performer this season, going from the bullpen to the starter and achieving an All-Star call-up. However, as the team was eliminated from the playoff race, it decided to rest Crochet for the rest of the season to keep him healthy by limiting his innings.
