"George Steinbrenner reincarnated with more money" - Nick Turturro urges Steve Cohen to rope in good pitchers after acquiring Juan Soto

Actor and diehard New York Yankees fan Nick Turturro was hurting after learning the news of Juan Soto going to the New York Mets on a blockbuster 15-year, $765 million deal on Sunday. He grabbed a lot of attention on social media for his slang and F-bombs thrown at the outfielder for choosing Queens over the Bronx.

On Tuesday, Turturro. on "Sports Nation Nightly" to discuss Juan Soto discarding the Yankees for the Mets, pointed out that while Mets owner Steve Cohen may have got the better of Yankees' Hal Steinbrenner, the Mets still need pitching, and the Yankees have got a lot of cash to not let that happen.

"Oh, it’s huge. I mean, you’ve got to understand, this guy is a superstar," Turturro said (3:20 onwards). "It was him and Judge; now it’s him against Judge. Let’s see how personal it gets, and let’s see what it turns into. This is going to be interesting drama. So be it, but it’s definitely seismic—huge. This guy is here. He’s George Steinbrenner reincarnated, but with more money, and he’s willing to go to any lengths he can.
"But he better get some pitching because that makeshift staff they have right now isn’t going to get it done."

Nick Turturro compares Red Sox as "hated cousins" and Mets as "stepchild" while discussing Juan Soto's signing

During the same conversation, the hosts asked what would have been better: Juan Soto going to the Mets or Red Sox or Blue Jays? Turturro said that he could have lived with the Red Sox, while calling Queens "junkyard."

"I could have lived with the Red Sox — fine, the cousin we hated. But now you’ve got the stepchild over here—the Mets. You go 20 miles away to Queens. You go to Queens and play in the junkyard over there," Turturro added.

It isn't difficult to imagine what the scenarios would be like during the 2025 Subway Series. Juan Soto's next reception at Yankee Stadium will likely have a lot of boos, and leading them to no one's surprise could be Nick Turturro.
