"Happy to be cheering on our guy again" - Trea Turner's wife Kristen and their kids show support for Phillies' ace shortstop at Citizens Bank Park
Phillies star shortstop Trea Turner had familiar faces in the crowd as his wife Kristen and sons Beckham and Tatum were present in the stands at Citizens Bank Park. His family was there to cheer him on for his second start since coming back to the starting lineup after missing more than a month of playing time due to a hamstring injury.
Philadelphia won Game 2 of a three-game series against the San Diego Padres by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday night. Kristen Turner took to her Instagram account to post an image of herself and the kids cheering on Trea Turner from the stands, with the caption:
"Happy to be cheering on our guy again"
Trea Turner met Kristen in college when they were studying at NC State. While majoring in chemical engineering, Trea was actively playing D1 baseball with the NC State Wolfpack baseball team, while Kristen, pursuing a degree in finance, was an All-Star gymnast with the women's gymnastics team at NC State.
Years after dating, the duo got engaged in 2017 and finally got married on November 10, 2018 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Washington, D.C. Sharing her experience of the traditional Catholic wedding with BRIDES, Kristen said:
"We didn’t have a first look before the ceremony. The moment when I walked down the aisle with my dad and saw Trea for the first time is one I’ll always remember!"
The couple's first son, Beckham Dash Turner, was born on February 9, 2021, when Trea was still playing with the Washington Nationals in the MLB. The duo welcomed their second son, Tatum Trea Turner, on September 7, 2023, to increase their happy family size to four members.
Kristen celebrated the news of Trea Turner making a comeback to the Phillies roster
Before their series opener against the Padres, the Philadelphia Phillies activated Turner from the IL. He was immediately slotted into the starting lineup after his 38-game hiatus. Turner's wife, Kristen, took to Instagram to share the news and celebrate the ace shortstop making his comeback to the Phillies roster.
Trea Turner smashed two hits in five at-bats on Monday night in his first game back, while he registered another hit on Tuesday night to get up and run a long break away from the diamond.
