"He is built for the Bronx" - Yankees legend CC Sabathia lauds Jazz Chisholm Jr. after back-to-back multi-homer performances for Bombers
Jazz Chisholm Jr. is having a dream run in a New York Yankees uniform. The center fielder-turned-third baseman hit his second consecutive double home run game in just his third game for the franchise as the Yankees won 7-6 in extra innings against the Philadelphia Phillies. His current vein of form has welcomed praise from the likes of legendary starter CC Sabathia.
Chisholm had five RBIs on the night and is currently batting at .400 for New York. The third baseman hit an RBI groundout in the first innings and hit two home runs in the sixth and seventh, respectively. A solo shot off Phillies starter Aaron Nola and a three-run home run off Matt Strahm drove in Juan Soto and Aaron Judge, coming in handy as the team's new leadoff hitter.
Chisholm's two-homer night was just the fifth multi-homer game of his career, having hit only three in the last four years with the Miami Marlins. His second home run came against the run of play, as Strahm had allowed just one homer in 48 at-bats against left-handed batters this season.
The third baseman earned well-deserved approval from six-time All-Star pitcher CC Sabathia. He tweeted on his X/Twitter account, about Jazz's ability to soak in the pressure of moving to the Bronx Bombers.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. delighted with new-found Yankees form
Tuesday's victory gave the Yankees their first four-game streak since June 12 after going 10-23. They were also able to win two consecutive series for the first time since their May 31 to June 6 stretch against the San Francisco Giants and Minnesota Twins, respectively. This has made Chisholm hopeful as he is setting his sights on a deep playoff run with a possible shot at the World Series title:
“It feels great, being part of a winning team, helping them win, trying to make the playoffs right now, trying to give ourselves No. 28," Chisholm said.
The Yankees (64-45) will hope that their new third baseman continues his form while they chase the Baltimore Orioles (64-44) at the top of AL East standings.
