"He got his doors blown off" - Trevor Bauer trolls opponent after hard-fought Mexican League strikeout
Former Cy Young winner Trevor Bauer has been catching the eyes of fans across the MLB for his dominant performances in the Mexican League. The former Los Angeles Dodgers star has been documenting his journey in the Mexican League on his social media, highlighting several impressive outings for the Diablos Rojos del México.
In his latest post, the 33-year-old shared a video of a hard-fought battle between himself and one of his Mexican League opponents. Bauer can be seen talking to himself throughout the at-bat, deciding what his plan of attack will be to record a strikeout.
"Okay, get in the zone here," Bauer said before throwing a series of off-speed pitches to get a 1-2 count.
However, Trevor Bauer's opponent fouled off and worked a few balls to push the count to 3-2. The former Cincinnati Reds ace decided to throw gas, using a fastball to record the strikeout.
Bauer trolled his opponent by titling the video "He got his doors blown off," referring to his fastball strikeout. In his post, Bauer wrote that his opponent needed to be "quicker than that" if he wanted to get a piece of his pitch.
Trevor Bauer has not pitched in the majors since 2021, after sexual assault allegations were made against him. However, Bauer has been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing and currently, the hurler is plying his trade in the Mexican League to rebuild his reputation and value to MLB clubs.
Despite being one of the most polarizing players in baseball, Bauer has proven that there is plenty of life remaining in his throwing arm. The veteran pitcher has been dominant in the Mexican League this year, even earning an All-Star selection.
Trevor Bauer is not the only former MLB star dominating in the Mexican League this year
Apart from Trevor Bauer, another former MLB star wreaking havoc in the Mexican League is former World Series champion Robinson Cano.
Canó, 41, is hitting .432 over 73 games this season and is third in LMB in OPS while running away with the batting title. The infielder was dismal during his final season in the MLB.
Given Cano's struggles in his final years in the majors and his success in Mexico, some have used this as a reason to doubt Bauer's success as well.
