"He's still in the league?" - Fans shocked to learn veteran pitcher Dallas Keuchel is still around after getting traded to the Milwaukee Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers have a new arm after acquiring veteran LHP Dallas Keuchel from the Seattle Mariners. He has been in the minors this season, making 13 starts and holding down a 3.93 ERA.

Milwaukee has been searching for arms this season and will take the shot on the 36-year-old. The Brew Crew only had to give up cash considerations to Seattle in the deal.

At the moment, the only dependable starter Milwaukee has is Freddy Peralta. Keuchel has a good chance at cracking the starting rotation, something that likely would not have happened in Seattle.

While Keuchel will be looking to crack the starting rotation, many baseball fans have forgotten he was still around. His last start came in September last year against the Tampa Bay Rays.

"He's still in the league???" one fan posted.
"Didn't even know he was on the Mariners," posted another.
"I thought he retired lol," posted another.

Many fans thought he retired following his 2023 season. However, he did not. He has just spent the start of the season in the minors.

"He's still around??" said another fan.
"As a broadcaster?" said another.
"But why?" said another.

Other fans are trying to figure out why the Brewers would make this move. He has not been all that effective over the last handful of seasons.

While this move is not league-shattering or all that exciting for the Brewers fanbase, it makes sense. The club needs starters, and Dallas Keuchel did not cost the team much.

Coming into the new season, the club learned they would be without Brandon Woodruff for the season after having shoulder surgery. Soon after, they traded their ace, Corbin Burnes to the Baltimore Orioles. The team also lost Wade Miley and Robert Gasser for the season as both required UCL surgery.

If Keuchel does not work out in Milwaukee, nothing much is lost. However, if he pitches well, the front office will appear to have made a genius move.

However, there is still work left to be done if Keuchel wants to be in the starting rotation. Milwaukee must make a corresponding move on the roster, but that should not be too hard, given the status of somebody like Robert Gasser.
