"He will be completely healed": Freddie Freeman's wife Chelsea shares relieving update on Maximus after he was diagnosed by rare neurological disease
Freddie Freeman and his wife Chelsea shared an important update concerning the health of their son Maximus, who was taken to the ER last week. Maximus came down with an infection since the All-Star break and with time, the condition only worsened as Chelsea shared that he was suffering from transient synovitis last week.
On Thursday, Chelsea shared that Maximus went into "full-body paralysis" last Friday. Freddie, who was in Houston at the time, rushed back on the first flight. After a series of tests, the diagnosis suggested that Maximus was suffering from "a severe case of Guillain-Barré syndrome, a rare neurological condition that is especially rare in children."
"These have been the hardest and scariest days of our lives. Maximus is such a special boy and he has been fighting SO hard. This is going to be a journey to recover, but we have faith that he will be completely healed. We have been blown away by his improvements in the last 48 hours," Chelsea wrote.
"Maximus was excavated from his breathing tube and taken off of the ventilator yesterday, which is a huge win for us. We believe in the power of prayer and we have been witnessing a miracle in his recovery. Please continue to cover Maximus and our family in your prayers. We really appreciate and have felt all of your support."
Dodgers placed Freddie Freeman on the family emergency list
With Freeman Freeman attending to his family, the Dodgers have placed the first baseman on the family emergency list and have called up Hunter Feduccia. However, in the latest update, he is optioned back to the minors to make room for newly acquired Kevin Kiermaier.
When Dave Roberts was asked when Freeman would return to the clubhouse during the series against the San Diego Padres, he said:
“He’s still kind of in it with Max,” Roberts said. “I don’t see him coming back for this series and we have the off day after this series and we’ll revisit. To be quite honest, I haven’t even broached that subject of him coming back, I just don’t feel it’s right.”
With the positive update from the Freeman family, there's a good chance the first baseman will join the team next week.
