Although Layton was not the Smith's first child, there was no shortage of support from the LA Dodgers community. Several Dodgers' wives, including Kristen Edman, and Tyler Glasnow's girlfriend Meghan chimed in to wish Cara and Will the best after they became parents for the second time.

Set to make the second World Series appearance of his career on Friday against the New York Yankees, Will Smith is following up on his second straight All-Star season. In 128 games this season, the 29-year-old hit .248/.327/.433 with 20 home runs and 75 RBIs.

So far in the postseason, Smith has struggled to a .158 batting average. However, his 2 homers and 6 RBIs show that he is capable of stepping up for his club in an offensive capacity.

Will Smith wants to prove himself in upcoming World Series

Ahead of the 2024 season, the Dodgers inked Smith to a massive 10-year extension worth some $140 million. After a strong regular season, Smith wants to kick off the biggest deal on the right foot, as he recently told MLB.com

"I wanted to stay here to win a World Series, win multiple World Series, this is where I felt the best chance was. Fortunately, the Dodgers gave me an opportunity. This year we have a chance to go win it. We’ve still got work to do.”

Although Layton will not remember the festivities, Smith is ensuring that he will have plenty of tales of glory to recount to his offspring one day.
