How much is Dave Roberts’ salary? A closer look at the Dodgers manager's earnings and impact on the franchise

The relief was palpable for manager Dave Roberts after the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres 2-0 in Game 5 of the hotly contested National League Division Series on Friday. It was another playoff series win for the Dodgers manager, who has enjoyed a long and massively successful tenure with the team.

Roberts was appointed as Dodgers manager before the start of the 2016 campaign. He is presently in his ninth year with the ballclub and has clinched three National League pennants and a World Series title during his time. Roberts is subsequently one of the most decorated baseball managers of his era, as well as one of the most well-paid.

The Dodgers initially signed Roberts to a three-year contract in 2015. They later offered him a four-year extension in 2018 after leading the team to the playoffs in each of his first three seasons. He signed another three-year extension to keep him in LA until 2025. Although his current salary is not clear, Roberts reportedly earned $3.25 million in 2023, as per USA Today's Bob Nightengale.

Meanwhile, Roberts has maintained an immaculate record of taking the Dodgers to the playoffs in each of his nine seasons with the franchise.

As a player, Dave Roberts spent 10 years in the MLB, including a couple of seasons with the LA Dodgers. Roberts recorded himself in the annals of baseball after earning arguably the most famous stolen base of all time for the Boston Red Sox in the 2004 American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees.

When his playing career ended in 2009, Roberts joined NESN as a color analyst before taking up a coaching role with the San Diego Padres the following year.

In November 2015, he was named the new manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, starting one of the most successful managerial tenures in the history of the game. He is also noted for his calm demeanor in the dugout, but he has proven himself to be an excellent tactician and motivator as well.

Roberts won the World Series with the Dodgers during the COVID-shortened 2020 season. This year, he picked up his eighth NL West title with the franchise while driving the team to its fifth appearance in the NLCS over the last decade. At the moment, Roberts is the fourth longest-serving manager in Dodgers history, and his 851 regular season wins also put him in fourth spot in terms of victories.

If the Dodgers accomplish their goal of winning the World Series this year, Roberts will become only the third manager to win multiple Fall Classic titles for the team.
