"I gave up way more hits than I was hoping" - Trevor Bauer opens up about facing batters from across Europe, invites fans eager for at-bat challenge

Former MLB pitcher Trevor Bauer faced a series of European batters at City Park in London, England, on Nov. 3. As a reach-out program by Baseball Jobs Overseas, the LMB champion with the Diablos Rojos del Mexico was invited to promote the sport amongst budding European ballplayers.

The batters that Trevor Bauer faced were from Bulgaria, Belgium, Lithuania, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Austria, Germany and France.

While speaking about the event with the media, Bauer said:

"I gave up way more hits than I was hoping to but after not throwing baseball for 10 days, I think it was to be expected."

Talking about the batters and how excited they were to face the former MLB Cy Young Award winner, Bauer said:

"They came out early and swinging at fastballs and put some good swings together. So, I had to start throwing some off speed stuff. Yeah, I really had no idea what to expect about European baseball because I have never experienced it before.
"so, it's kind of cool to see everyone from different countries and yeah loving baseball an event like this where you can throw to some players and then answer some questions and autographs. I mean it's everything to a lot of these kids."

Trevor Bauer spoke highly about the sport that gave him everything

After the one-day event in London, Trevor Bauer shed light on the sport, how it helped him through life and the potential baseball has to bring together communities.

"I love doing stuff like that mainly for the spread of information. Baseball's giving me a lot financially and obviously life experience, friendships with teammates and bonding with my parents. I like to see more kids have that opportunity, especially in countries where baseball maybe isn't as big asnin America and keep it going."

Trevor Bauer last pitched in the MLB in 2021 with the Dodgers. He spent a year playing in the NPB with the Yokohama DeNa Baystars in 2023 and most recently spent the 2024 season with the Rojos Del Mexico in the LMB.
