“I heard Freddie Freeman is unbelievable at it” - Jackson Holliday challenges Dodgers first baseman for offseason Golden Tee match
Baltimore Orioles rookie Jackson Holliday and former player Ryan Ripken discussed their favorite pastimes on Saturday. Holliday revealed his best score on the golf simulator video game "Golden Tee" and expressed his desire to challenge the LA Dodgers' Freddie Freeman,
When not on the pitch playing baseball, Holliday enjoys hanging out in the Orioles' clubhouse, playing ping pong and "Golden Tee."
"Golden Tee" is a golf arcade game and is one of the longest-running games series since it was first released in 1989. Holliday began playing it as a child at the St. Louis Cardinals clubhouse when his father used to play for the team.
In an interview uploaded on Ripken's YouTube channel, Holliday discussed his performance on the game.
"[7:10] I think I shot a minus 28, I went double eagle, eagle, hole in one, three holes in a row- which set me on a good path. That's probably my best. I guess the pros make more hole in ones than I do, but that's not too bad."
He also issued a challenge to Freeman, who he claimed is good at the game.
"[6:15] I've heard Freddie Freeman is really good, that's what I keep hearing. I've heard for a few years that he's unbelievable at it. Maybe if he wants to come hit in the off-season, we can play at the house."
Jackson Holliday records RBI as Orioles win opener against Rays
The Baltimore Orioles beat the Tampa Bay Rays 2-0 in the series opener at Camden Yards on Friday. In a low-scoring affair, the Orioles only needed a run each in the fifth and sixth innings to put them on their way toward a comfortable win. Both starting pitchers Dean Kremer (Orioles) and Shane Baz (Rays) recorded quality starts.
Holliday had another strong performance as his sacrifice fly allowed Colton Cowser to score and gave his team the lead. Gunnar Henderson hit a home run in the following inning to put the hosts firmly in the driver's seat. For the 2024 season, Holliday is batting at a .179 average with five home runs and 21 RBIs.
The Orioles take on the Rays in the final game of the series on Sunday. The Rays bounced back with a 7-1 win on Saturday to tie the series. Whoever wins Sunday's game will clinch the series. With ace Corbin Burnes taking the mound, the hosts will fancy their chances at winning and making it three series victories in a row.
