"I’m going to try my best to get on base”- Yankees star Juan Soto plans to set up an All-Star showdown between Paul Skenes and Aaron Judge

Juan Soto has been one of the best players in MLB since bursting onto the scene in 2019. The young outfielder has once again earned an All-Star selection, thanks to his impressive season with the New York Yankees. This year's Midsummer Classic will be the fourth appearance of his seven-year major league career.

Despite his talent, Juan Soto is aware of the superstar showdown that fans, experts and colleagues hope to see on Tuesday night's All-Star Game. One of the most talked about possible matchups is Aaron Judge versus Paul Skenes, a battle that Soto is keen to see unfold.

"I'm going to try my best to get on base so I can get Judge up against Paul Skenes," Soto told the MLB's Lauren Gardner on the All-Star red carpet. "I think it's going to be fun and we're going to have a good time."

It remains unclear how many innings Paul Skenes will throw during the All-Star Game. However, with Juan Soto batting third and Aaron Judge batting fourth, there's pressure on Soto to succeed.

Batting ahead of the Yankees duo are Steven Kwan of the Cleveland Guardians and Gunnar Henderson of the Baltimore Orioles, so there is a chance that Judge may not need to rely on his teammate to face Skenes.

While Soto says he is determined to get on base, it may be easier said than done considering the dominance that Skenes' has shown. When asked about his plan of attack, Soto kept it simple, saying:

"Just be ready for the electric stuff and go from there."

Even though Soto has been incredible in the ballpark, many other stars have failed against Paul Skenes this season. The Pittsburgh Pirates rookie has been nearly untouchable since his debut, posting a 6-0 record with a 1.90 ERA and 89 strikeouts over 66.1 innings of work.
