"I'm very passionate, I care a lot about winning and this team"- Marcus Stroman shares honest take on his mid-game tensions with Gleyber Torres
Marcus Stroman and the New York Yankees broke their horrid four-game losing streak against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday. Following a string of underpar performances from the offense, the Yankees hitters were on song tonight as they scored 16 runs at Rogers Center to win the game 16-5 and level the series.
However, before all that, it was the mid-game tension with Stroman, who yelled at Gleyber Torres for not converting a double play opportunity in the fifth.
Soon after, the pitcher was pulled out of the game. Speaking about his yelling after the game, Stroman said he is competitive and that sometimes it can lead to frustration.
"Yeah, this game can definitely have a lot of raw emotion come out. Stroman said in the postgame interview.
"So, you know, I'm very passionate. I care a lot about winning for this team, for this city. And yeah, sometimes raw emotion comes out. So I checked in with everybody I needed to check in with after the game. And yeah, like I said, it's all directed towards winning and being great out there. Sometimes it's frustrating."
After Stroman exited the game in the fifth, throwing 4.1 innings for five hits, three earned runs, three walks and three strikeouts, the Yankees were trailing 3-1. However, what followed was nothing short of extraordinary.
They had a six-run outburst in the sixth and another seven-run outburst in the ninth. Moreover, every Yankee hitter that had a plate appearance scored a hit, as they scored in a bundle.
Juan Soto led the group, hitting a three-run homer against Blue Jays' starter Yusei Kikuchi in the sixth inning. Gleyber Torres also had a two-run homer in the same inning. Aaron Judge had three hits and two runs batted in.
Even Marcus Stroman knew that it was only time before the Yankees hitter swung big time and the moment could not be more overwhelming.
"Incredible. You know, can't hold this team down for long. I feel like it was something that was gonna happen soon. Just been in a little bit of a lull lately, but yeah, it was good to see the boys swinging it again," Stroman said in the postgame interview.

One thing that the Yankees would like to improve this season is their defense, especially in the infield, where they have committed too many errors this season. So when that bothered again in the fifth, raw emotions came out from Marcus Stroman.
However, after the game, Stroman spoke to Torres to clear the tension and accepted losing cool through a social media post.
"The squad went crazy today. Love to see it. Raw emotion and passion are part of the game. When you care deeply…frustrations come into the light. That’s on me for losing my cool. I have to be better. Truly love this team and will always compete at the highest level for my brothers. On to the next! @Yankees," he wrote on X.
Marcus Stroman has always been raw when it comes to expressing emotions on the field. On Friday, the situation got the better of him.
