"I never had this much fun with baseball"- Yankees starter Carlos Rodon's wife Ashley grateful to Gerrit Cole's spouse Amy for 'pitcher wives' bond
On Tuesday, New York Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon's better half, Ashley, made an appearance on fellow Major League pitcher Lance Lynn's wife Dymin Lynn's podcast. On the show, Ashley Rodon talked about a multitude of topics, ranging from baseball, her family, and more.
While talking about her relationships with the wives of other Yankees players, Ashley Rodon shed some light on the special friendship she shares with fellow starting pitcher Gerrit Cole's wife, Amy.
"Gerrit Cole's wife, Amy, has probably become one of my best friends on the team, just because, naturally, you know how it is, like 'pitcher's wives'." Ashley Rodon said [41:00]
"We sit together every game, and that's probably made it one of the more special parts of this all, it's like I've got my buddy next to me every day and it's fun. I've probably never had this much fun with baseball. It's been really great." Ashley Rodon said [41:14]
On Wednesday, Amy, Ashley, and the rest of the Yankees' significant others got together as they headed out to support the team for Game 1 of the World Series in LA on Friday.
Ashley Rodon talks about Carlos Rodon's strong start for Yankees in ALCS opener
Carlos Rodon took to the mound for the New York Yankees against the Cleveland Guardians in the opening game of the ALCS at Yankee Stadium back on October 14. The 31-year-old had a great outing, going six innings and striking out nine batters while giving up only one earned run, a Brayan Rocchio homer.
The Yankees were up four runs when the home run was hit, and it proved to be mere consolation for the Guardians on the day as Rodon's fine performance propelled the Pinstripers to victory.
More importantly for Carlos Rodon, after an outing against the Kansas City Royals in the ALDS where he started strongly but ended up conceding four runs, this was a much-needed confidence boost.
On the aforementioned podcast with Dymin Lynn, Ashley talked about her husband's performance in the championship series opener.
"The pressure's definitely there, but I also feel like Carlos can handle it. (Speaking about game one of ALCS) He had nine strikeouts, six innings, he did give up one homer. I think he had 25 swing and misses, which was the most even in Statcast for the Yankees, I think since '08. He wanted to come back, [after] he had that start against Kansas City." Ashley Rodon said [41:34]
Moving on to the World Series now, Carlos Rodon will have another important part to play in the biggest series of the season, though it is not yet confirmed which exact game the 31-year-old will start in.
Yankees fans will be hoping their pitching staff as a whole can add to their recent strong performances, as the franchise with the most World Series titles looks to add another in 2024.
