"I don't think there's any question" - Analyst hails Aaron Judge as he edges closer to beating Alex Rodriguez's HR record
New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge crushed a pair of home runs on Sunday to bring his season-long total to a whopping 51 bombs with 31 games remaining in the year. While the hard-hitting outfielder could potentially surpass his American League single-season record of 62 home runs, it appears likely that he will cross off yet another record along the way.
The first home run that the Yankees' captain hit against the Colorado Rockies was the 18th first-inning homer of the season. This is significant because it ties him with another former Yankees slugger, Alex Rodriguez, for the most first-inning home runs in a season in MLB history.
MLB analyst Steve Phillips has zero doubt that the Yankees captain will break A-Rod's record.
"I don't think there's any question Aaron Judge is going to break that record and hit another first inning home run before the end of the season," Phillips said on the MLB Radio Network.
Aaron Judge can break Alex Rodriguez's record as soon as Monday, as the New York Yankees are set to face the struggling Washington Nationals. Nats young starter Mitchell Parker will have the tall task of not being the pitcher that Judge broke the record against.
Aaron Judge is the runaway favorite to win the American League MVP Award
It may go without saying, Aaron Judge has separated himself from the rest of the pack for the AL MVP award. Currently on the sports betting website DraftKings, Judge is the -3000 favorite to win the award, ahead of the likes of Bobby Witt Jr. (+1100) and his teammate Juan Soto (+5000).
At this point, Judge would need an epic collapse to lose the second MVP Award of his potential Hall of Fame career. Not only has Judge been incredible from an individual perspective, but he has helped the New York Yankees sit atop the AL East with a 77-54.
Will this be the year that he finally slugs the Bronx Bombers to a World Series title?
