"I've never seen a hitter disrespect me this much" - Trevor Bauer reveals best home run celebration against him during Mexican League outing
Trevor Bauer is a man of many words and a firey personality. The former Cy Young Award winner has never been shy about making his opponents look foolish when he records a nasty strikeout against them.
However, what makes Bauer an enjoyable follow on social media is that the does not shy away from showing when an opponent does something impressive against him too.
In a lengthy video that Bauer shared on his YouTube account, the Diablos Rojos del México starter broke down an entire outing against the Tigres de Quintana Roo.
Throughout the video, Trevor Bauer breaks down a number of successful outs and strikes that he was able to record. But most importantly, the former Cincinnati Reds ace shared the best "pimp job" on a home run that he allowed.
Tigres catcher Carlos Castro came up to the plate against Bauer, getting everything he could off the pitch and launching it over the fence in center field. As highlighted by Bauer in the video, Castro stood still at the plate and watched the ball fly out, before trolling Bauer's signature 'sword' celebration.
"I can honestly say, I have never seen a hitter disrespect me this much in an at-bat before and this was tight," Bauer said of Castro's home run [3:25].
Despite the dramatic celebration, the pitcher lauded it as the best celebration ever used against him. The previous spot belonged to Fernando Tatis Jr. of the San Diego Padres who, after hitting a home run off Bauer, then put one hand on his eye like a pirate, looking back into the dugout.
Unfortunately for Tatis Jr., he has now been dethroned for the best home run celebration against Bauer.
Trevor Bauer has suggested that the MLB is preventing him from signing with a new club
Bauer was never found guilty of any criminal wrongdoing after sexual assault allegations were made against him. Yet, the former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher has not played in the MLB since 2021.
On top of that, his dominating performances in the Mexican League show that he still has plenty of life in his throwing arm. So, why has he not been offered a contract?
Well, Bauer recently suggested that the league itself is the reason why he has been unable to secure a contract with a club. During an exchange on social media, Bauer claimed that one team said that the decision was not theirs to make.
"Well one team told us it's not their decision, it's an MLB decision," Bauer wrote on social media.
Whether this is true or not remains to be seen. However, given the number of devastating injuries to pitchers in the MLB and the need for reliable starters, it seems that some team or the other would eventually take a shot on Trevor Bauer.
