"I will not give Shohei Ohtani credit" - Mets sportscaster claims Dodgers star's 10-minute-a-night games inferior to Francisco Lindor's all-round play

New York Mets analysts are firmly pushing Francisco Lindor's case for the National League MVP. His stellar season got another highlight on Saturday when he hit two home runs to drive in five for his side in a 7-1 win against the San Diego Padres. Sportscaster Ryan Finkelstein took to YouTube to argue his case.

On the "Locked on Mets" podcast on YouTube, Finkelstein reasoned how Lindor has evolved into a complete player. He also took a dig at Shohei Ohtani, stating that as a DH, the Dodgers superstar is on the field for 10 minutes a game, which doesn't warrant recognition.

"I will not give Ohtani credit for being more valuable than Francisco Lindor when Shohei Ohtani plays about seven to 10 minutes a night as a designated hitter," Finkelstein said.
"He gets to go down to the tunnel, take as many swings as he wants, maybe get some massage in between innings, we do not know what's going there. Shohei Ohtani has a much easier job than Francisco Lindor," he added.

Lindor hit a grand slam in the top of the fourth inning and put the game beyond the reach of San Diego. Coming in to bat in the seventh inning, Lindor went yard again, this time from the right side of the plate. His switch-hit prowess was well-complemented by his defensive saves. He stopped two 99 mph balls and converted them into important plays.

Francisco Lindor's shot at Mets history

If Lindor is voted the National League MVP, he will become the first Mets player in history to win the award. Only two other clubs, the Arizona Diamondbacks and Tampa Bay Rays, younger franchises than the Mets, have never won the MVP award.

On a personal level, Lindor is on track for 33 home runs and 31 stolen bases. This will mark his second consecutive 30-30 season, with only seven players having achieved the feat in baseball history. With this likely being Ohtani's only season as a DH in the NL, this might be Lindor's best chance at winning the award.
