Sometimes the fans of baseball players turn out to be best friends. This is the case for Reagan Bregman, the wife of Houston Astros player Alex Bregman, and sportscaster Allie LaForce, the wife of retired relief pitcher Joe Smith.

Bregman and LaForce are more than just baseball wives. They've built successful careers outside of baseball. Bregman opened a new brand of food products under the name Wild Sol in January, while Laforce has been a sideline reporter for NBA, MLB and college basketball games.

Alex Bregman has a batting average of .204 and has hit only four home runs this season. He has 21 RBIs with a .590 OPS.

There is speculation that the Houston Astros might trade him before the trade deadline. His performance is part of Houston's slow start. According to MLB insider Mark Feisand, the Astros may put the two-time All-Star and World Series champion up for trade and then re-sign him in the winter if he has improved by then.

Joe Smith, who played for Houston from 2018 through July 2021, announced his retirement from baseball on Jan. 31 through Instagram.

Allie LaForce’s tribute to her husband during his retirement

In January, Allie LaForce, the wife of former pitcher Joe Smith, penned a touching message on social media celebrating his retirement after a 16-year MLB career:

"I love you, Joe Smith. I am incredibly humbled to have witnessed your dedication to, and success in this game. I will cherish each day with you in this next chapter.
"What you accomplished was hard. Hold your head high, knowing you did it with great success, loyalty, kindness to your teammates and staff, and love to your family. Hats off baby. ❤️ ."

Joe Smith played for the New York Mets, Cleveland Indians, Los Angeles Angels, Chicago Cubs, Toronto Blue Jays, Cleveland Indians, Houston Astros, Seattle Mariners and Minnesota Twins.
