Venezuelan rookie Jackson Chourio had a spectacular first major league season in 2024. With a .275 batting average, 21 home runs and 79 RBIs, Chourio played a key role as his team won the NL Central division title.
A key pillar of support for the Milwaukee Brewers star off the field was his girlfriend, Gabriela Alejandra. On Tuesday, Alejandra took to Instagram to post a series of snaps as she enjoyed a day at the ballpark, turning heads in a white crop top and blue jeans, cheering her boyfriend on while he took part in the Venezuelan home run derby.
The Venezuelan home run derby, known by locals simply as "Jonron," which literally translates to "home run," is an annual event that baseball fans in the country excitedly look forward to.
In the 2024 edition, numerous big league level hitters took part alongside Chourio, including Jose Altuve (Houston Astros), Eugenio Suarez (Arizona Diamondbacks), Luisangel Acuna (New York Mets) along with fellow Milwaukee Brewers teammate William Contreras.
Jackson Chourio finishes second in Jonron 2024
Just like the displays that led to Jackson Chourio finishing third in the NL Rookie of the Year standings, the 20-year-old showed in 2024's edition of the Jonron derby that he has no problems hitting the ball out of the park repeatedly.
The young outfielder ended up finishing second in 2024's edition of the Venezuelan home run derby, losing out to fellow big leaguer Eugenio Suarez in the final.
Though the 2024 season was overall a huge success for Jackson Chourio, it ended on a sour note as the Brewers crashed out of the postseason after a stunning late come-back from the New York Mets in the rubber game of the wild card series, courtesy of a Pete Alonso 4-run home run to flip a 2-0 Milwaukee lead on its head.
Losing like that will certainly sting, but for now, the 20-year-old Venezuelan can afford to take his mind off the field for a few months, instead focusing on spending plenty of time with his loved ones.
The focus shifts back to baseball in the new year, with spring training usually starting in early February. Brewers fans will be hoping their young star comes back well-rested and can pick up from where he left off in the previous campaign.
