Jackson Holliday optioned to Triple-A
After a much hyped debut in the majors, baseball's number one prospect Jackson Holliday is headed back to the minor leagues. Holliday's stint in the minors was respectable, batting .333 with two home runs, five doubles, and nine RBIs.
However, the 20-year-old sensation primarily struggled after being called up to the big leagues.
"The Orioles have optioned Jackson Holliday to Triple-A. Holliday had a .059/.111/.170 slash line in his first stint in the Majors." - @MLBONFOX
In a brief 10-game stint in the main roster, Holliday recorded just two hits in 34 at-bats. That, in effect gave him a miniscule .059 batting average and an OPS of .170.
The Orioles organization gave their young prospect a chance to shine even if the team is in the mix for playoff contention. For now, he will have to ply his trade at their Triple-A affiliate in Norfolk, the same team where he started the 2024 season.
As for the Orioles, the team is enjoying the penthouse suite in the American League East, with a 16-9 record. Up and down the roster, Baltimore has been spoiled with choices.
The team is top-five in the league in virtually all the counting stats at the plate. Meanwhile, on the pitching side of things, their staff is smack dab in the middle when it comes to team stats.
