In Photos: Johnny Damon steals the spotlight in Hawaiian shirt & 04 Sox World Series ring in star-studded charity golf event
Johnny Damon was seen celebrating ahead of a star-studded charity golf event in Palm Beach, Florida. The former World Series champion competed in the event that took place on Monday and Tuesday.
Damon posed on the hood of a car wearing a stylish Hawaiian shirt. One particular piece of jewelry caught fans' attention on Instagram: on his right hand, Damon wore his 2004 World Series ring, earned during his time with the Boston Red Sox.
MTV reality star Johnny Bananas was also tagged in photos on Instagram as one of the top celebrities competing in the event. All the action on the golf course supported the Dave Burke Foundation, with a gala held before hitting the links.
Many golfers participated in the pro-am as well, including John Daly. Known for his many talents, Daly took the stage during the celebration, and Damon shared a video of him playing guitar.
Yankees fans burned Juan Soto's jerseys; Johnny Damon suffered the same fate
When Johnny Damon signed a four-year contract with the New York Yankees in 2005, it devasted many Boston Red Sox fans. Damon was the heart and soul of that 2004 championship team, and many fans felt betrayed when he went to join the "Evil Empire." There were videos of fans burning old jerseys of Damon after that signing, and a similar thing just recently happened.
Juan Soto decided to leave the New York Yankees to sign a deal with the New York Mets on Dec. 8, and many fans of the Bronx Bombers were not happy. It was only a few short days ago when fans could be seen burning Soto's jersey, and things have come full circle nearly 20 years later.
Damon has not been a relevant name in the world of MLB for a few seasons, but he is still someone who resonates with fans.
