In Photos: Nolan Arenado reflects on his baseball journey with Drillers, Rockies and Cardinals during Oregon visit
For many experts and fans, Nolan Arenado is considered as the best defensive third baseman of the current crop of MLB stars. The 33-year-old is the only infielder in history to win 10 straight Gold Glove Awards starting from his debut season.
Nolan Arenado found the time to look back in his illustrious career while visiting the Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. Arenado posted several photos of him on Instagram yesterday. It highlighted moments of his career while being represented by the famous swoosh brand.
A Nike athlete ever since Class-AA Tulsa, Arenado has been one of the faces of the sports company in the major leagues. The star third baseman was also associated with the brand during his long stint with the Colorado Rockies and most recently, the St. Louis Cardinals.
A report by MLB insider Katie Woo, published on The Athletic on Nov. 7, highlighted the plans for the Cardinals organization including Nolan Arenado's contract. St. Louis general manager John Mozeliak has reportedly talked to all players within the club who had no-trade clauses about their plans. Arenado, who has no such clauses in his contract—might reportedly be dealt elsewhere.
The report, supplemented by BVM Sports, sparked rumblings that the talented infielder is headed to Philadelphia as they move and replace Alec Bohm, or even to his home state in California to play with the World Series champion Dodgers.
With the stacked free agency market, it will be interesting to see if Arenado stays in the rebuilding St. Louis squad or will explore options and play for a contending team.
Nolan Arenado's underwhelming season
By his standards, Nolan Arenado's 2024 season was underwhelming. For the first time since his debut season in 2013, the star third baseman has failed to either win a Gold Glove or be selected to an All-Star team.
Arenado, who is not only known for his defensive prowess, but also his slugging—finished the season with a measly 16 home runs and 71 RBIs in 152 games.
