Paul Skenes and his girlfriend Olivia Dunne are excited for the upcoming MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday. The Pittsburgh Pirates rookie will start for the National League at Globe Life Field. Dunne has confirmed that she will be in attendance for another marquee moment for the former LSU ace.
The top NIL-earning female athlete took to her social media to share the items she received as a gift from the MLB to enjoy the game in the best outfits:
"Here's a haul of some of the stuff I got at the MLB All-Star gifting suite!" she wrote in her story.
Among the gifts she received were custom-made All-Star Game jerseys, special hats and caps, and a Pittsburgh Pirates chain, special mugs, batting gloves and a baseball bat with All-Star game engraving on it.
These are the gifts the MLB league office gives to the family members and girlfriends of MLB players playing the All-Star game.
Paul Skenes feels honored to get to start for NL side in the All-Star game; Olivia Dunne to cheer from stands
Ahead of the MLB All-Star game, National League manager Torey Lovullo announced Paul Skenes to be the starter for the Midsummer Classic. For Lovullo, it was a "no-brainer" decision, while opposing manager Bruce Bochy feels Skenes is a "beast" on mound.
Skenes himself is digesting a lot, given that he started the year on AAA and that not long ago he made his debut with the Pirates in May. However, since then, he Pirates rookie is wreaking havoc, spraying 100 mph heater ease and accuracy.
"I'm super grateful to get to start," Skenes said via MLB.com. "I'm super excited.
"Obviously, starting the year in Triple-A, the odds of going to the Major League All-Star game are pretty slim, so that wasn't one of my goals necessarily or expectations for this season. It's just a huge honor that I'm able to do it, after playing just a short span in the big leagues."
To put his numbers and historic reference into perspective, Paul Skenes' first 11 starts have racked up 89 strikeouts, the fifth-most through 11 games in MLB history and the most since Kerry Wood's 94 in 1998.
Moreover, Skenes' 1.90 ERA with a .202 batting average against and 0.92 WHIP sheds any comparison since the Hippo Vaughn of the 1908-1910 Yankees.
Although he will be limited to only one inning, fans and the pitcher himself are awaiting to see the clean-up hitters Aaron Judge and Paul Skenes up against each other.
Cheering from the stands will be social media star Olivia Dunne who also attended her beau's debut at PNC Park in May.
