Pittsburgh Pirates rookie pitcher and now an All-Star in his maiden season, Paul Skenes, along with his girlfriend Olivia Dunne, prepared to take flight to Arlington, Texas, for the 2024 MLB All-Star game on Sunday. The duo rocked color-coordinated outfits; Skenes wore a black shirt and gray pants, while Dunne wore a black jumpsuit.
Livvy shared some images from the trip on Instagram and captioned her story:
"All Star game bound @paulskenes."
Dunne has been a towering figure in the life of Skenes and has supported him throughout his journey to the big leagues.
Olivia Dunne has been present for all of Paul's home starts at PNC Park this season. Besides achieving individual glory and her commitment to a fifth year with the Tigers gymnastics team, she has cheered for Paul Skenes in the MLB.
The duo has turned into one of the youngest power couples in America and has been highly successful in their respective sporting fields. While Livvy helped LSU win their maiden NCAA gymnastics title in April, Paul led the charge for the Tigers last year as they claimed a seventh collegiate baseball title.
Olivia Dunne stays active even when she's not performing her routines on the mat or showcasing her class on the rings. She's associated with some of the biggest brands and ad campaigns via her NIL deals, which has helped her become the highest-earning NCAA athlete.
Paul Skenes, meanwhile, loves to keep a low profile and stay confident for his starts on the mound. He has been impressive since making his MLB debut in May. Skenes was selected first overall pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates last year and also received a $9.6 million signing bonus.
He has created history by becoming the only ballplayer to receive an All-Star nod in their rookie season.
Olivia Dunne's boyfriend Paul Skenes set to start Midsummer Classic for NL All-Star team
NL manager Torey Lovullo has named Paul Skenes to be the NL All-Star starter for Tuesday's game while the Pirates ace was in the middle of an interview. Much to his delight and ecstasy, Skenes replied:
"That’s normally not what the protocol is. You don’t do an interview and find out while you’re on an interview from the actual National League manager. I wasn’t expecting that."
He added:
“There are a lot of really good pitchers that have been in the league for a little bit that probably are also deserving. To even be in the conversation is really cool, and obviously, to be named the starter, it’s surreal.”
Olivia Dunne will be in the stands for every pitch Paul Skenes throws inside Globe Life Field on Tuesday as the baseball world gears up to watch the rookie sensation play the Midsummer Classic.
