In Photos: Salvador Perez channels inner wildlife photographer during Royals captain's vacation at Kenya's Amboseli National Park
Salvador Perez, the catcher and first baseman of the Kansas City Royals, went for a holiday trip to Amboseli National Park in Kenya. There, he took photographs of the stunning natural scenery, capturing various animals posing with Mount Kilimanjaro in the background.
Perez posted about his trip on Monday on Instagram.
In the pictures and video shared, some elephants peacefully grazed all around.
Amboseli National Park is positioned in the southern part of Kenya and is famous for being home to different kinds of animals such as the big five animal species, e.g., elephants and lions. It's also known to host numerous species of birds.
The park covers about 392 square kilometers and can be described as a plain covered with grasses and scattered trees. Spotted hyenas are also common in the area.
Salvador Perez’s 2024 season and his experience in Amboseli National Park
The park's unique ecosystems support over 600 bird species and many other land mammals. Being able to see the majestic creatures in their natural habitats made Salvador Perez become a wildlife photographer at heart for a moment. So, he captured the lively surroundings using his camera.
In the 2024 season, Perez recorded a batting average of .271, with an OBP of .330, a slugging percentage of .456 and an OPS of .786. He hit 27 home runs.
Also, in 2024, Perez, a five-time Gold Glove Award winner, became the first Kansas City player to be named the winner of the Roberto Clemente Award. Apart from that, he won his fifth Silver Slugger award.
