In Photos: Snoop Dogg takes the mound for ceremonial first pitch in Brewers jersey
Legendary rapper and producer Snoop Dogg was at American Family Field for the ceremonial first pitch ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers game against the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday. When he took the mound, he received a standing ovation from 38,419 fans in attendance.
The cheer only got louder when the rapper threw a strike to Brewers first base coach Quintin Berry. Snoop Dogg was in Brewers jersey for the occasion as he clicked and greeted the Brewers team following the first pitch.
However, he have to give credit to Brewers manager Pat Murphy, who helped him prepare for the first pitch.
“He seemed like a nice man,” Murphy, who was impressed, said.
The Brewers social media reported that Snoop Dogg received a phone call from Baseball Hall of Famer and Brewers' announcer Bob Uecker.
The 17-time Grammy nominee later joined the Brewers broadcast booth, where his play-by-play announcing skills were as good.
Pitcher Bryse Wilson called getting clicked with Snoop Dogg "super cool"
It's not common for American Family Field to have celebrities come over. So when Snoop Dogg arrived, Brewers players were excited, particularly Bryse Wilson, who got a photo with the rapper.
“I got a picture with him,” Wilson said. “That’s one of the cooler if not the coolest experience that I’ve had as a professional baseball player. I mean, you look at him and he’s like, ‘Oh, he’s as A-list as it gets and it’s like, you know, unless you play for the Dodgers I feel like you never get to meet that guy. I mean, that was awesome. That was super cool.”
In the presence of Snoop, the Brewers clinched the game 3-1. Bryse served as the primary pitcher, as he threw 5.1 scoreless innings for three hits, two walks and six strikeouts.
On the offensive end, third baseman Joey Ortiz smacked a three-run home run in the fifth. Trevor Megill did give up one run in the ninth but then pitched strong to close out the game for the Brewers.
