In Photos: Trevor Bauer & agent Rachel Luba dive into local cultures & colorful corners of Oaxaca, Mexico
Trevor Bauer and his agent, Rachel Luba, are biding their time in the Mexican League while awaiting a major league contract. On Tuesday, the two went on a trip to Oaxaca, Mexico.
Luba shared photos from their trip to the city. She and Bauer visited various landmark places, including Templo de Santo Domingo de Guzman. The two explored the streets, the local cuisine and the vibrant culture of the city. This was Luba's third trip to the city.
"It’s now my 3rd trip to Oaxaca and each time I’m always captivated by the colors and art 🎨👩🏽🎨🪇⚾️," she wrote in the caption.
On the baseball front, there has been no better pitcher than Trevor Bauer in the Mexican League. He has gone 10-0, posting a 2.48 ERA and 120 strikeouts in 83.1 innings.
Bauer often shares snippets of him being mic'd up while pitching for the Diablos Rojos del Mexico. In the following instance, he gets worked up for not executing the pitches properly.
Trevor Bauer throws big accusation at MLB for not letting teams sign him
During a conversation with Nati Sports on social media, the former LA Dodgers pitcher revealed the reason for his absence in the majors despite his willingness to play for the league minimum.
"Well one team told us it's not their decision, it's an mlb decision," Bauer wrote on X.
Bauer also said that one team didn't sign him as they didn't want MLB to dig into their past.
"One team told me I was ‘too expensive’ even though I offered to play for minimum, another team told us they have covered some stuff up in the past that they don’t want the media digging into to find out about…" he wrote.
July 2021 was the last time Bauer was seen on a major league mound. In the wake of sexual assault allegations, the league first put him on administrative leave and subsequently suspended him for 194 games for violating the MLB's joint domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy.
After playing for the Yokohama Dena Baystars in 2023, Bauer was expecting a major league contract this offseason. However, despite his name being cleared from every lawsuit filed before, teams have shown reluctance to sign.
