In Photos: Yankees legend Alex Rodriguez hits the golf course ahead of celebrity tournament
Alex Rodriguez is set to participate in the upcoming American Century Championship, a celebrity golf tournament featuring personalities from various professions. Last year, Steph Curry emerged as the champion. However, as Curry will be busy participating in the Paris Olympics this time around, a new winner is expected to emerge.
The former Yankees star hit the golf course and shared glimpses of it:
"If practice is this is fun, I can't wait to see what happens when the tournament starts," he wrote in caption.
Rodriguez also shared a photo where a massive crowd was trying to get his autograph.
He previously said via MSN:
"I used to play 162 games a year, now it's hard to play 18 holes."
Rodriguez played baseball, primarily for the New York Yankees, but he's taken his talents to the golf course. They both involve swinging something, but they're very different. Nevertheless, Rodriguez seems to be enjoying himself.
Alex Rodriguez admits challenges with golf
Alex Rodriguez hit a baseball for a living. It is widely heralded as one of the hardest things to do in all sports, and Rodriguez was excellent at it. He did it better than most other hitters in MLB history, albeit with an asterisk due to his steroid use.
He has over 3,000 hits and 696 home runs. What is challenging for the vast majority of people was not difficult for him with the Texas Rangers, Yankees, and Seattle Mariners.
However, hitting a different ball with a different tool has proven to be much more challenging. He said in another Instagram post:
“How’s this still harder than baseball?!”
Despite the challenges, he has worked on it and is poised to show the world what he can do this weekend at the American Century Championship.
There are numerous other celebrities also participating in the event and it will be an entertaining weekend at Lake Tahoe.
