Meanwhile, Luis's time as a player with the New York Mets ended after the 2024 season came to an end. On Dec. 5, 2024, the Oakland Athletics signed him, according to MLB insider Jeff Passan, on a 3-year deal.

His contract is worth around $67 million, making it the largest contract in the history of the franchise.
