"Inflatable couch, mattress on the floor" - Jake Fraley's wife Angelica reflects on bare-bones apartments during Reds CF husband's MiLB days

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jake Fraley’s wife Angelica took to social media to reflect on their humble beginnings during Fraley’s Minor League Baseball days. She shared photographs of their modest apartment on Instagram, but insisted that those were among the best times of her life.

"Our apartments in the Minor Leagues looked like this: inflatable couch, mattress on the floor, diaper boxes for nightstands, little projector, that’s it. I remember for Mother’s Day, my friend gifted me a little trash can because I would just use plastic bags. And man, those were the best days," she posted.

How much do Minor League players get paid?

The financial struggle for minor leaguers is a well-documented issue, with players historically earning low wages. However, recent years have seen significant improvements in pay and living conditions.

In 2024, minor league players will receive considerably higher salaries than in previous years. The weekly salary for Triple-A players increased from $502 in 2019 to $1,200 in 2024. Additionally, teams now provide in-season housing and better travel arrangements, easing some of the burdens faced by players and their families.
