"It's all I've ever seen from him" - Yankees manager Aaron Boone lauds Aaron Judge's dependable play as superstar outfielder sets career record
Despite how the rest of the team plays, Aaron Judge has shown his consistency and has led the club from the front this season. That was on full display again on Saturday as the New York Yankees clinched a run-fest game 11-8 against their nemesis, the Boston Red Sox, at Fenway Park.
Judge went deep once while contributing with three RBIs, two walks, four hits and three runs scored across four plate appearances. He also achieved a career-high by reaching base six times in a single game. His ever-dependable play earned credit from his manager, Aaron Boone, who once again had nothing but praise for the captain.
"No matter what we're going through — we're flying high or we're struggling our butts off, he's the same, focused, energetic, team guy all the time, and it's all I've ever seen from him," Boone said via The Athletic's Brendan Kuty.
With the win on Saturday, the Yankees have tied the series, with the decider scheduled to be played on Sunday.
Aaron Judge and Juan Soto's monstrous outing is good enough vs. the Red Sox
There's no denying the duo of Aaron Judge and Juan Soto is causing all sorts of headaches for opposing pitchers. The two have been piling up hits and home runs this season and, in part, have carried the offense this season.
On Saturday, both the Red Sox and the Yankees got off to a hot start, with both scoring three each in the first inning. The Yankees added one more in the second, while the Red Sox added two to take the lead in the game.
The Red Sox, on one end, continued to pile up runs while the Yankees offense was always within the distance to tie the game. Trent Grisham's RBI double in the ninth pushed the game towards extra innings.
After Alex Verdugo popped out, Juan Soto singled to center field, followed by Aaron Judge getting a walk to load the bases. Austin Wells sac-fly helped the go-ahead run in Oswaldo Cabrera. Moreover, Soto and Judge scored on Gleyber Torres bases, clearing a double to left field to put the Yankees up 11-8.
Clay Holmes then closed out the inning in the 10th, giving the Yankees a come-from-behind victory to set up the finale on Sunday.
