"It’s been needed for a long time"; "Never lose passion and fire bro" - Yankees fans back Marcus Stroman for his mid-game outburst at Gleyber Torres
The New York Yankees fans have backed Marcus Stroman for his mid-game outburst at team-mate Gleyber Torres during their clash against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre on Friday night. The Yanks finally broke out of their four-game losing streak with a 16-5 win against the Jays.
Stroman yelled at Torres during the fifth inning of the game when the 2B failed to get the throw over to first base in time to turn the double play.
However, after the game, the ex-Blue Jays man took to X (formerly Twitter) and acknowledged that he shouldn't have done what he did and he was sorry for his actions on the mound. In the post, he wrote:
"The squad went crazy today. Love to see it. Raw emotion and passion are part of the game. When you care deeply…frustrations come into the light. That’s on me for losing my cool. I have to be better."
"Truly love this team and will always compete at the highest level for my brothers. On to the next" - Marcus Stroman on his on-field outburst at Gleyber Torres
However, it seems that the fans have a different view of the incident. They believe that Stroman's show of intensity and passion played a key role in getting the Bronx Bombers out of the four-game slump they were in. Many commented on the pitcher's post, showing their support for the star's action on the mound.
"Never lose the passion and fire bro. We need it, especially in times like this," one fan said.
"It’s been needed for a long time. Keep being you," another fan said.
"Love that fire in your belly. This entire Yankees team and fanbase has your back," one fan said.
There were more who came up front and supported the 33-year-old for his show of passion and intensity on the pitch.
"DO NOT APOLOGIZE! This team NEEDS and NEEDED this intensity and raw emotion. And if it needs to happen again then so be it," another fan said.
"Keep doing it big dawg. We need your intensity in the Bronx," one fan said
"You may have just single-handedly saved the season," another fan said.
Marcus Stroman's honest take on his on-field tension with Gleyber Torres
After winning Friday's game against his former side, Marcus Stroman dishes out an honest take on his on-field tension with team-mate Gleyber Torres. The pitcher mentioned that frustration is common as the game is really competitive.
"Yeah, this game can definitely have a lot of raw emotion come out," Marcus Stroman said in the postgame interview.
"So, you know, I'm very passionate. I care a lot about winning for this team, for this city. And yeah, sometimes raw emotion comes out ... like I said, it's all directed towards winning and being great out there. Sometimes it's frustrating."
Marcus Stroman did show signs of compassion for his teammate by being one of the very first people to come out of the dugout and congratulate the 2B after he hit a huge 2-run Homer in the sixth inning of the game, marking his eighth home run of this season.
