"It sucks for him and for us"- Bo Bichette's early exit during Tigers game raises concern from Blue Jays' skipper John Schneider
Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider voiced his concern over Bo Bichette's condition after his early exit from the team's 5-4 loss against the Detroit Tigers. Bichette hit one toward the right-field corner in the sixth inning last night. As the ball dropped, he busted out of the box toward first base.
However, after just five steps, he suffered a calf strain and was seen leaping ahead on his left leg alone. Talking about Bichette's injury in the post-game interview, Schneider said (per MLB.com):
"He was uncomfortable. We’ll see how it is tomorrow and go from there, I just feel bad for him. It sucks for him and for us.”
This is the third calf injury Bichette has suffered this season. Earlier this month on the 10th, he was removed from the Giants game after experiencing a right calf strain. Although Bichette wanted to continue the game, Schneider didn't want to take any risks. While explaining his decision, Schneider said he did so to keep the player out of the situation where he would smell a hit and burst out of the box.
The star's performance this season has been affected a lot due to these back-to-back injuries. This season, he has a batting average of .223, a .597 OPS, four home runs, and 30 RBIs.
MLB insider urges Bo Bichette to part ways with Blue Jays for better options elsewhere before the trade deadline
MLB insider Ken Rosenthal has urged the Toronto Blue Jays' Bo Bichette to move to a better option elsewhere before the MLB trade deadline.
According to Rosenthal, Bichette is eager and is giving every indication for a 'change of scenery'. In an interview with the "Foul Territory Podcast," Rosenthal said:
"Bo Bichette is an interesting guy. There's no doubt about it. In my view, he needs to get out of there. I don't know that he is happy there. I haven't talked to him about this and I haven't necessarily heard specifically, but it certainly seems like he gives every indication of being a change of scenery type."
"Based on what we've seen from Toronto in the past, do not believe that they are going to go anything beyond their potential free agents," Rosenthal added.
The 2023 All-Star shortstop has been one of the players heavily speculated to part ways with the club before the deadline. Although there haven't been any concrete offers for the star, many teams are reportedly keeping close tabs on the player's situation for a possible move.
