Jackson Chourio drops 2-word reaction as the Brewers star remembers Bob Uecker’s unforgettable final home run call

On Thursday, the Milwaukee Brewers lost their longtime radio voice as Bob Uecker, a former player who called the franchise's games from the booth for 54 seasons, died at the age of 90 after his battle with small cell lung cancer since early 2023.

Interestingly, the last home run called by Uecker was Jackson Chourio's grand slam against the Cardinals on September 2, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel said.

Chourio, who captured all the limelight in Milwaukee for his incredible rookie season that saw him coming third in NL Rookie of the Year voting behind winner Paul Skenes and runner-up Jackson Merrill, upon learning the post from Hogg, went to social media and sent a special 2-word message for the iconic moment on Friday.

"Special moment," he wrote.

Bob Uecker's strong voice to call Jackson Chourio's grand slam

Bob Uecker's final call will go down in the memorable moments of franchise history as the 90-year-old longtime broadcaster witnessed the future star of the franchise in Jackson Chourio.

Reliving the moment again, Chourio was facing Cardinals reliever Riley O'Brien in the bottom of the sixth inning with bases loaded and the Brewers leading the game 5-3. It was a big pop from Chourio to left-center field for a 420-ft grand slam which put the Brewers up 9-3. However, the highlight of the call was Uecker using his iconic home run phrase: "Get up, get up, get outta here gone!"

"Set to work. Runners lead, first, second and third to pitch. Hit to left and deep," Uecker said on his final home run call. "Get up, get up, get outta here gone! With the bases loaded! And they add four more on the rookie's grand slam home run! His 18th of the year! Wow! And a standing O for Jackson Chourio! Wow! It is 9-3."

However, it wasn't the final game Bob Uecker called. He was in the booth to cover Game 3 of the NL Wild Card Series against the New York Mets. The Brewers lost that game 4-2, eliminating them from the postseason.
