Jackson Holliday's wife Chloe reacts to husband's first career homer for Orioles
The Baltimore Orioles recalled rookie Jackson Holliday to the big club after his disappointing stint earlier this season. However, the no.1 prospect was more than ready to make an impression this time around.
In his first game since returning to the Orioles roster, Holliday smashed a home run with the bases loaded, registering his first MLB homer on Wednesday at Camden Yards.
Jackson Holliday's wife Chloe reacted to the Orioles rookie's first career home run. She shared the clip of Holliday going deep with heart 'emojis' in her Instagram story.
Jackson Holliday and his wife Chloe are high school sweethearts. They got married in January this year.
Jackson went deep against Toronto Blue Jays reliever Yerry Rodriguez in the fifth inning with the bases loaded. Following Holliday's homerun, reigning Rookie of the Year Rookie Gunnar Henderson directed the 20-year-old to receive a curtain call.
Jackson Holliday makes history with first career grand slam
The 20-year-old Orioles rookie has already erased the nightmarish memory of his first stint when he made his MLB debut in April earlier this year. Jackson Holliday went 2 for 34 with 18 strikeouts after his debut, which saw him sent to Class AAA Norfolk.
But the rookie sensation was not fazed by his demotion and instead used the minor league experience to solidify his game. Holliday's home run on Wednesday made him the youngest Orioles player to hit a grand slam while being only the third player to register a grand slam as their first career home run.
"It’s pretty surreal. Can’t have dreamed it up much better for a first home run," says Holliday per USA Today. "That’s about as best as I can hit a ball."
Orioles fans will likely be seeing more of Holliday after All-Star infielder Jordan Westburg was hit by a pitch during Wednesday's game. Westburg fractured his right hand after being drilled by a 95.2 mph fastball in the fifth inning before Holliday's grand slam.
Westburg will be heading to the IL, although Orioles manager Brandon Hyde is optimistic the infielder can return by the end of the regular season.
