The duo have been dating for some time now, as Sammie has been spotted during most of Jackson's games for the Padres at home in Petco Park. She was also present in the stands at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, as Merrill made his debut in the Midsummer Classic for the NL All-Stars in July.

Merrill has produced a fine rookie season with the Padres and has effectively justified his selection for gamedays during the regular season as well as the postseason. He became an All-Star in his rookie season and earned his maiden silver slugger.

The Padres had selected Merrill No. 27 overall in the first round of the 2021 MLB draft. He quickly moved up the ranks in the minor leagues before the organization decided to promote him to the big league roster during the spring training in 2024.

It's safe to say Jackson delivered on all fronts this season, and the Padres will be hopeful that the 21-year-old can continue this positive momentum in the upcoming season.
