Jackson Merrill, Luis Arraez, Michael King's partners Sammie, Gladys, Sheila donned Padres stars' face-printed outfits in NLDS Game 1 loss to Dodgers
Jackson Merrill, Luis Arraez, and others scored in Game 1 of the NLDS match between the LA Dodgers and the San Diego Padres. However, it was not enough as the Padres lost 7-5 in a game that saw Shohei Ohtani rise to the occasion in his postseason debut.
The girlfriends and wives of the Padres stars were in attendance at Dodger Stadium, and most showed their support by wearing unique face-printed T-shirts.
Merrill's girlfriend Sammie Quinn, Arraez's wife Gladys PeƱalver Arraez, and pitcher Michael King's wife Sheila Hill wore the t-shirt with their respective partners' faces printed. Sammie shared it, featuring Sheila on her Instagram stories. Gladys also did the same.
Merrill had a solid performance against the Dodgers. He walked twice and scored a run. On the other hand, Arraez collected a base hit in five at-bats and scored the team's first run.
Michael King didn't play the game but was the hero in the Padres' NLDS berth-clinching victory over the Braves in Game 2 of the Wild Card Series. The former Yankee pitched 7 innings and struck out 12 hitters without giving up a run.
Padres' loss to Dodgers was their third in a row after they claimed the first game when they met in their penultimate series in the regular season. The Friars will certainly be looking to make it 1-1 as they face Shohei Ohtani and co. in Game 2.
Jackson Merrill's girlfriend Sammie, Luis Arraez's wife Gladys celebrated Padres winning Wild Card Series
As the postseason has begun, the WAGS of baseballers are more invested in the game. Jackson Merrill's girlfriend Sammie, and Luis Arraez's wife Gladys celebrated the Padre's victory over the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday, on social media.
Merrill's girlfriend Sammie shared a picture of Jackson Merrill holding a cigar as her Instagram story. She captioned the snap "NLDS here we come". Luis Arraez's wife Gladys shared a snap of her kissing her husband. She captioned the picture "Felicidades mi rey," which translates to "Congratulations my king" in English.
Merrill is in prime contention to win the NL Rookie of the Year, with only Paul Skenes as his only competition, per betting odds. Arraez has shown he is the king of batting averages by winning his third straight batting title.
What's more impressive is that he had beaten Aaron Judge, Ronald Acuna Jr., and Shohei Ohtani in the last three years to claim it. All three were MVPs when Arraez won the batting titles.
