"John Middleton will do anything in his power to get that trophy back" - Larry Bowa on Phillies' expected offseason shake-up after NLDS exit
On Tuesday, former Philadelphia Phillies manager and player Larry Bowa shared his thoughts on the team’s future during an appearance on MLB Network's "Hot Stove." During the segment, Bowa highlighted owner John Middleton’s commitment to winning a championship.
"I mean, if you take a look at our lineup from top to bottom you guys do a great job," Bowa said. "It's a tough lineup to get through. But for some reason in the playoffs, I have no idea what is going on."
"Our owner John Middleton, he'll do anything in his power to get that trophy back here in Philly. So, I expect us to make a few moves during the winter. They might shock some people, but I was sitting with David (Dombrowski) at the last out of the Mets game. When they eliminated us, and he just kept shaking his head, he said we got to do something different."
Bowa discussed the sense of immediacy in the organization, emphasizing a strong motivation to implement major changes following numerous close calls.
"But I am saying that's in my head right now, and I definitely think he's going to do something that's gonna change this team a little bit. As for his approach in the batter's box, I really believe that's important."
The Phillies are focused on strategic moves to strengthen their roster this offseason
The Phillies are exploring possible additions like standout outfielder Juan Soto, seasoned third baseman Alex Bregman and southpaw pitcher Garrett Crochet. They could have a notable impact on their roster if brought on board.
With John Middleton leading the way, ready to make daring decisions to bring success back to Philadelphia, fans can anticipate a thrilling and potentially game-changing offseason. Strategic acquisitions and team chemistry will be crucial for the Phillies as they strive for success in 2025.
