Juan Soto not 'missed' by Yankees despite his fantastic 2024 season ft. World Series, claims insider
Before signing the biggest contract in baseball history to join the New York Mets this past offseason, Juan Soto was a fan favorite at Yankee Stadium.
Finishing the 2024 season with a .288 batting average, 41 home runs and 109 RBIs, Soto enjoyed arguably the best season of his career. He also played a key role in helping the Yankees reach the World Series for the first time since 2009.
As Soto headed into free agency off the back of his superb season, fans were hoping to see him extend his stay in the Bronx. However, they were left heartbroken as Steve Cohen and the Mets ended up outbidding their team.
Despite losing the quality of Soto, MLB insider Keith McPherson claimed that the Yankees are not missing him.
"I'm so tired of hearing that Juan Soto carried the Yankees to the World Series," McPherson said on Friday, via EFAN Sports Radio. "Why didn't he win ALCS MVP? Come up with something else."
Juan Soto says success at the plate is 'a matter of time', as he continues to stay committed to working on his craft
With the kind bumper deal Juan Soto signed with the Mets, big things were expected from him. However, he struggled with consistency at the plate early in the season, starting the year slower than fans would have hoped.
Soto claimed that it was only a "matter of time" before the Mets get the kind of player they broke the bank for.
"I don't feel any pressure, I would say it's more about coming through for the team," Soto said on May 30, via SNY.
"You know, everybody's hoping I come through, and I want to help the team either way — try to get some wins. I know I've been struggling and I haven't been there for them, but I will be. it's a matter of time. We don't know when it's going to come through, but I'm just going to keep working on it."
As the Mets look to win the NL East and challenge for the World Series come October, their fans hope Soto can get back to his best as the season progresses.
