Ketel Marte drops 2-word sentiment about intense offseason workout
Ketel Marte was arguably the best switch hitter in 2024, even though the Arizona Diamondbacks missed the postseason. Nonetheless, Marte's stellar campaign deservingly garnered third place in the National League MVP voting, behind Shohei Ohtani and another switch hitter, Francisco Lindor.
Marte appears determined to improve his performance in the 2025 season, as he has already begun his offseason workouts. On Friday, he shared a video of his training on his Instagram story, originally posted by his trainer Felix Gregorio Tovar Gonzalez.
Between the workout posts, Marte shared his sentiment about the workout with a boomerang story, captioning it with a two-word message.
"Never easy," Metel wrote.
Despite being "never easy," Marte effortlessly performed single dumbbell presses, triceps exercises and swing power-generating drills.
Marte's fitness undoubtedly contributed to his stellar 2024 season, the best of his MLB career. His 36 home runs were four more than his previous best in 2019 when he finished fourth in the NL MVP voting. His performances were also rewarded with a Silver Slugger Award and an All-MLB first team selection.
Marte often shares updates about his life with his nearly 300,000 followers on Instagram. His wife, Elisa, is also active on the platform, regularly posting content related to fashion and family. She is a cousin of Toronto Blue Jays superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Ketel Marte shares son's batting practice
Elisa and Ketel Marte have two sons: Keyden, born in 2015 and Kadmiel, born in 2021. It seems Keyden is following in his father's footsteps, as the Diamondbacks star shared a video of his son's batting practice on Dec. 12.
Keyden swung for the fences, often connecting with the ball. Interestingly, his hairstyle closely resembled his father's. Marte shot the video when Keyden swung, and they also switched roles. Unlike his son, Marte seemed leisurely practicing his swing.
Marte's agent, Charisse Dash, and former teammate Joc Pederson were impressed by Keyden, who both reacted in the comments section.
"One Star to another Star," Dash wrote.
"LINEAAAA," Pederson said.
Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Marte will aim to further improve his switch-hitting skills. Alex Avila, Marte's ex-teammate and MLB analyst, praised his performance on MLB Network in November.
Avila highlighted Marte's improved left-handed hitting as a key factor in his success, noting that he hit 18 home runs from both sides last season.
