Logan O’Hoppe cheers on Angels teammate Ben Joyce after proposal to Anna Leanos
LA Angels catcher Logan O'Hoppe is excited to learn the big news coming from his teammate and reliever Ben Joyce, who made a move in his relationship with Anna Cleanos.
On Monday, Joyce announced his engagement to his longtime girlfriend, Anna. He posted a series of photos where the pitcher can be seen getting down on one knee in a picturesque outdoor setting.
Anna shared the news on Instagram with the caption:
"WE’RE ENGAGED!!!!!!" alongside a Bible verse, Matthew 19:6, which reads, “What God has joined together, let no one separate.”
Joyce proposed to Anna on Jan. 25.
The post garnered an outpouring of love from friends, family and fans. Among the comments was one from Angels catcher Logan O’Hoppe, who wrote:
"Yes!!! Let’s freaking go!! Love you both."
Both Joyce and Leanos wore outfits that matched the occasion. Joyce looked dapper in a black turtleneck paired with light gray trousers and sleek black loafers. Anna, meanwhile, wore a chic black dress featuring a fitted bodice and flowing skirt, paired with a white long-sleeve blouse layered underneath.
Ben Joyce celebrates Anna's 24th birthday at Angel Stadium
In September 2024, Ben Joyce posted a heartwarming photo from Angels Park. While the reliever was in his LA Angels jersey, Anna was in her red outfit. The post marked a celebration for Anna's 24th birthday as Joyce wrote a heartwarming note for her:
"Happy 24th Birthday to my best friend and the love of my life! The most beautiful girl inside and out, you truly deserve to be celebrated every day. Can’t wait to see you in Paris soon"
On the baseball front, Joyce pitched for Double–A Rocket City to begin the 2024 season before the Angels called him back in June.
Against the New York Mets, the reliever struck out JD Martinez with a 104.7-mile-per-hour fastball, garnering immense attention, as it was the highest recorded speed for a strikeout pitch since 2008.
He broke his previous record by striking out Dodgers slugger Tommy Edman on a 105.5-mile-per-hour heater. His season came to a premature end in September due to injury. In 34.2 innings pitched, he posted a 2-0 record and a 2.08 ERA.
The Angels expect Ben Joyce to be their primary closer in 2025.
