Dodgers vs Rockies: Game Summary
The Dodgers scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning when Chris Taylor's groundout in a bases-loaded situation led to Michael Conforto scoring from third, while the Rockies completed the double play.
Dodgers catcher Will Smith hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the third inning, leading to Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman scoring, as the Dodgers took a 4-0 lead. Taylor drove in a run with a single to left field.
Rockies catcher Jacob Stallings hit a two-run RBI off Landon Knack in the fourth inning to make the game 5-2.
The next four innings went without a run as both teams struggled to generate offense. For the Dodgers, Jack Dreyer, Kirby Yates, Alex Vesia and Luis Garcia finished the job after Knack was pulled out in the fifth inning.
For the Rockies, Jake Bird, Scott Alexander and Jimmy Herget were able to keep the Dodgers hitters at bay for the most part.
However, first baseman Freddie Freeman rubbed salt into the Rockies' wounds by hitting an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning, which drove in Ohtani.
The loss means the Rockies are one of the few teams yet to win a series in 2025.
They will face the Dodgers on Wednesday hoping to avoid a sweep. Bobby Miller will be on the mound for the Dodgers while righty German Marquez will be the Rockies' starter.
