Bobby Miller gave up a leadoff single to Rockies slugger Nick Martini, who later came around to score on Kyle Farmer's RBI double to give the Rockies a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani tied the game by taking German Marquez deep. This was followed by Freddie Freeman's home run. Marquez allowed the bases to be loaded and the Dodgers made the most out of the situation.
Andy Pages' single to left field resulted in the addition of two more runs. Dodgers catcher Austin Barnes also cleared the bases with a two-run RBI double. Ohtani helped in one more run, as his single allowed Barnes to reach home.
The Dodgers capped off the seven-run first inning with a 7-1 lead. Just two innings later, the Rockies hit back with a five-run inning of their own, thanks to Michael Toglia's grand slam followed by Mickey Moniak's solo shot, which brought the score to 7-6.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Pages' single to left field drove in Max Muncy to make the game 8-6 in favor of the Dodgers. The Rockies kept it close and cut the lead to one run again after Kyle Farmer's groundout led to Nick Martini scoring.
With the game on the line at 8-7, the Dodgers sent Tanner Scott out to close. He struck out two hitters before allowing a single to Sean Bouchard. Scott scored the final punch by retiring Ryan McMahon, earning the save in the Dodgers' 8-7 victory.
