Los Angeles Dodgers vs New York Mets: Game Player Stats and Box Scores for October 14
After cruising past the New York Mets for a 9-0 win in NLCS Game 1, the Los Angeles Dodgers entered Monday's afternoon game with hopes of taking a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
Starting the game for the Dodgers is Ryan Brasier; however, this being a bullpen game for Dave Roberts, the primary pitcher would be Landon Knack. Meanwhile, the Mets, who ended their NLDS showdown a game earlier, had Sean Manaea on the mound.
Francisco Lindor didn't take much time to send the Dodgers into a 1-0 hole after leading off the inning with a home run against Brasier. The starting pitcher went into a jam thereafter; however, he was saved by a double play to end the innings.
Manaea started his half of the inning with two straight strikeouts (Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts) before giving up a walk to Teoscar Hernandez. He retired Freddie Freeman to end the inning.
The Mets added five more runs in the second innning, courtesy of an RBI double from Tyrone Taylor and a grand slam by Mark Vientos.
The Dodgers had their first run after Max Muncy homered in the fifth inning to make the game 5-1. They added two more runs out of a jam in sixth innings as a two run RBI single from Tommy Edman drove in Mookie Betts and Teoscar Hernandez.
In the top of the ninth, Starling Marte added an insurance run, driving in Pete Alonso to make the ball game 7-3 and giving Mets closer Edwin Diaz to protect the four-run lead.
A single from Andy Pages followed by a walk by Shohei Ohtani made things interesting. However, Diaz registered three straight strikeouts to end the game 7-3 as the Mets tied the NLCS series 1-1.
