Miguel Rojas seemingly takes a jibe at Yankees' Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s previous comments on veteran Dodgers shortstop
Veteran Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Miguel Rojas and current New York Yankees third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. had their own rivalry going on during the recently concluded 2024 World Series. Chisholm Jr. had made some scathing comments to the media about the Venezuelan earlier this year, and the latter quietly took a swipe at his former teammate for his words via social media.
Miguel Rojas recently shared a post on his Instagram story as a reminder for Jazz Chisholm Jr. on how the game rewards the worthy in the end. The post was initially published on Instagram by El Lineup in Spanish. It said, "Baseball always puts everyone in their place."
Jazz Chisholm Jr. had taken multiple shots at Miguel Rojas during an appearance on The Pivot podcast back in March, although he only referred to him as "the captain." Rojas was the captain of the Miami Marlins, the team that Chisholm Jr. played for until he joined the New York Yankees at the trade deadline this year.
"You can't be a team leader when you've got guys that's been in the clubhouse that's been in there nine or 10 years even though they suck," Chisholm said.
"They've been there for nine or 10 years and the team calls them the team captain," he continued. "But they're not a good captain, they're not a good person, you're not even a good athlete at this point. You're just here and you're bringing down the young guys that are supposed to be good."
Miguel Rojas feels the game has served justice to Jazz Chisholm Jr. for his unfair comments as the Los Angeles Dodgers emphatically beat the New York Yankees to win the World Series just five months later.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Miguel Rojas were uneasy teammates for Marlins
Miguel Rojas is currently in his second spell with the Los Angeles Dodgers, having made his MLB debut with the team in 2014. He played eight seasons for the Miami Marlins from 2015 to 2022, with three of those as teammates with Jazz Chisholm Jr. But the pair had a rough relationship, especially after the Bahamian accused Rojas of criticizing him behind his back to former Marlins manager Don Mattingly.
"I'm not expecting everybody to like me, and I don't like everybody," Rojas said in response to the comments from Chisholm Jr. back in May. "But that doesn't mean that I can go out there and tell everybody what's happening in the clubhouse.
"As a professional, you have to understand that you have to respect everybody that is in that clubhouse,"he added. "When you come to a place and you get to a new place, there are people there that have been there before you. There's rules in place, and someone is going to keep you accountable."
The feud between Chisholm Jr. and Rojas may not cool down any time soon, but it is undoubtedly the Venezuelan who is enjoying greater contentment from the 2024 campaign.
