Mike Trout cherishing opportunity to sport Team USA colours after huge win against Canada gets WBC 2023 campaign back on track

Captain Mike Trout is over the moon after Team USA's blowout win over Team Canada in Game 3 of the World Baseball Classic 2023. Due to the 10-run mercy rule in the competition, the U.S. easily defeated Canada after only seven innings.

Mike Trout of the LA Angels smacked a three-run home run to cap the frenzied opening frame.

"It's special to put the USA across your chest and go out there to play for your country," said Mike Trout while speaking to sportswriter Ken Rosenthal post-game.

After the Dominican Republic, Team USA started the competition with the second-best odds to clinch the 2023 WBC title.

Having beaten Great Britain (6-2) in Game 1 of the WBC, this was Team USA's second win after losing to Mexico yesterday.

Team USA has a record of 2-1 in the WBC, and will take a day off before facing Colombia on Wednesday , who are 1-1 in the tournament. A victory would enable Team USA to advance in pool play.
