Mike Trout promotes his baseball card; meanwhile, Bobby Witt Jr. uses custom cards for groomsman invitations
Like many other MLB players, Mike Trout and Bobby Witt Jr. love to rip open packs of baseball cards. It has become increasingly popular again, much like it was years ago but on a whole new level.
One recently released product is the Topps Allen and Ginter set. Unlike other packs, this one includes celebrities and national monuments in addition to baseball players. It is a fun pack to rip, and Trout wants you to find his card in the bunch.
"Collect my card" said Trout.
On the other side of baseball card news, Bobby Witt Jr. came up with the ultimate baseball player wedding invitation. With the star getting married in December, he sent out personalized Topps baseball cards.
"I couldn't think of a better way to send groomsman invitations than by using custom baseball cards. It would be my honor for you to be by my side on my wedding day. It wouldn't feel right without you there. Consider this the official invite!" said Witt.
His Kansas City Royals teammate MJ Melendez showed off his invitation, which is truly one of a kind. Each was equipped with a special message on the back.
Bobby Witt Jr. is featured on a card that Mike Trout has yet to be featured in
This season has been wildly successful for Bobby Witt Jr. and the Royals. While not much was expected from them, they made the postseason this year and had a solid little run.
They made it all the way to the ALDS, but could not keep up with the New York Yankees. It was Kansas City's first postseason appearance since winning the World Series in 2015, and Witt's first postseason.
Witt now has more experience and postseason wins than Mike Trout. That is crazy to think about considering Trout has played in 14 seasons in the big leagues while Witt just finished his third.
Much like in the regular season, Topps makes cards that commemorate the postseason. Topps Now already came out with a card celebrating the Royals advancing to the ALDS.
Trout's minimum postseason experience has been a big talking point in his career. With the time ticking and injuries piling up, his chances of turning that around are running out. Hopefully, Trout and the Angels can turn it around over the next few seasons.
